International Partners

13 Partners. 16 Countries. 1 Network.

About Us

The Aspen Institute’s International Partners are on the frontlines of the defining challenges of our time, connecting global leaders, convening critical conversations, and catalyzing bold solutions.

Around the world, The Aspen Institute’s International Partners bring people together to take on the defining challenges of our time. Through courageous leadership and global collaboration, they spark ideas, build trust, and drive change in their communities and around the globe. Since 1974, the Aspen Institute has inspired 13 International Partners in 16 countries: Central Europe (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia,) Colombia, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Romania, Spain, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom.

Over the past half century, the global network has grown alongside the Aspen Institute in the United States, meeting a rising demand for the Institute’s proven methods for leadership development and problem-solving.

The Aspen idea continues to expand, most recently with the launch of the Aspen Initiative in Africa-Nairobi. Each branch of the Aspen family tree shares a common mission to drive change through dialogue, leadership, and action to help solve the most important challenges facing the world.

Remembering Leonard Lauder

In Memoriam: Leonard A. Lauder: 1933-2025

Recently, we lost a towering figure in the International Partners Network. We remember and honor the life and extraordinary legacy of Leonard A. Lauder, who served as an Aspen Institute Trustee, Chair of the International Committee, and an unwavering champion of Aspen’s International Partners.

Leonard’s belief in the power of values-based leadership knew no borders. His generosity, vision, and deep personal commitment helped shape and sustain the Aspen International network as we know it today. As we gather in Aspen later this month, we will take time together to remember Leonard and reflect on how best to honor his legacy across our global community.

We remain deeply grateful for his lifetime of generosity, service, and his love for the International network. His absence will be deeply felt, but his influence remains all around us.

President of Ancora Associates, Inc. and Aspen Institute Trustee Clare Muñana remarked, “In the constellation of all those he touched around the world, Leonard held our Aspen International Partners particularly close. His extraordinary vision, leadership and generosity anchored our international family. His consistent, personal commitment reflected a deep and abiding care for each of our partners and Aspen’s mission globally. We will carry his values and his voice with us always.”

Elliot Gerson, Aspen Institute Executive Vice President shared: “Leonard’s devotion and dedication to the Aspen Institute was singular and extraordinary, as will be his legacy. While it was my privilege for two decades to work closely with him on his many passions across the Institute, the Socrates Program notably among them, I would like to highlight his unparalleled contributions to our family of Aspen Institutes and Initiatives around the world. Every one of our International Partners and Affiliates, now on every continent – from Germany born a half century ago, to our youngest in Colombia just two years old – has benefitted from Leonard’s deep personal engagement, wisdom, vision and generosity. Apart from our Founder, no one could be higher in the Aspen Institute pantheon.”
